Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
BabyMama is built around the idea that your pregnancy notes are yours. This page explains what stays on your device, what (if anything) leaves it, and what we will never do.
What stays on your device
Everything you create inside BabyMama lives in your phone's private storage:
- Journal entries, photos and voice notes
- Daily mood check-ins and reflections
- Your name, due date and stage
- Apple Health data we read with your permission (read-only — we never write health metrics back)
We do not have a server that mirrors any of this. There is no BabyMama account.
What can leave your device — only if you choose
- Backups. When you tap Export full backup, a single file is generated for you to share or save (iCloud, AirDrop, Files). You decide where it goes.
- PDF journal. When you tap Export Journal as PDF, the same applies.
On-device AI
BabyMama uses Apple's FoundationModels framework to generate gentle reflections (e.g. "Your week looked tender…"). This runs entirely on your iPhone via Apple Intelligence. No prompt or response ever leaves your device. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, BabyMama falls back to built-in responses — the app works fully either way.
What we never do
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not run ads.
- We do not sell, rent or trade any data.
- We do not collect analytics, crash data or device identifiers.
- We do not use any third-party SDKs.
Permissions we ask for
- Photos — to attach a photo to a journal entry, and to personalize your Home backdrop.
- Camera — to capture a new photo straight into a journal entry. The image stays on your device.
- Microphone — to record a voice note in the journal.
- Notifications — for the morning check-in and gentle nudges, only if you turn them on. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
- Apple Health — read-only access to steps, sleep and resting heart rate, only if you connect it. We never write anything back to Apple Health.
- Reminders — to mirror gentle nudges into a "BabyMama" list, only if you turn it on. Only generic titles are written, never your journal text.
Children
BabyMama is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and you'd like the app deleted from their device, simply uninstall it — no further action is needed because nothing is stored off-device.
Sign in with Apple
Sign in with Apple is optional. If you use it, Apple shares your name (only if you allow it). We store this on your device only.
Changes
If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app's About screen.
